Western National Info #1
13/Jun/2010
Parents,
I would like to thank every one for the team support this past weekend. While we had some rough spots during the games that cost us a chance to play deeper in the tournament, we did have a decent showing by finishing in the top 25 out of 84 teams.
By playing in this tournament, we are eligible to participate in the 2010 ASA Western Championships in Fort Collins CO during Aug 1-Aug 8 and many of your have expressed a desire to attend. As we all know this is a huge undertaking and will take some planning and support to make this happen for the team and girls. For those who went to WA last year, you know what a great time we had on and off the field and being in CO, I would think we could repeat that adventure! On the field, I feel we have a team that can win that event, secure a 16U National bid which is very powerful to have in our procession.
During the week of 6/21, we will have a parent meeting to begin to plan this event. We will need parent volunteers to handle the following:
General Tournament organization
Pre Sale Merchandise forms
Pins (do we? amounts? Breeze 96?, etc)
Gift Exchanges
Housing (we do have a hotel in the area at a very reasonable rate)
Food - team dinners, etc to make the trip cost effective (Red Robin in Palmdale is too far to go :)
Fundraising - if we want to do some events prior?
Sponsors
So in the meantime, we will begin to look for housing and options to travel this coming week. Your summer fees covered this tournament, but actual travel/lodging will be extra. We will stay as a team where we pick and can some group rates on travel. As we have done in the past, families can get there anyway they like, as long as we are there on time as a group. Some families may even want to stay over after the tournament. If you decide your daughter can not go, please let me know so we can plan accordingly. Any questions that you may have, please reach me.
I have attached the revised list of events for that tournament found at http://www.coloradoasa.org/2010_14A.htm. I assume that web site will be updated as we get closer.
If anyone can offer help and begin some work, when we meet, we can get a good feel for this undertaking.
Thank you to all for the past weekend support.

Thank you for outstanding support this weekend in Hemet (and all Jan/Feb). The girls really played well over the last month despite the rainouts. Maybe the late movie took its toll on Sunday, but over all we played well, competed each and every time and they had fun doing it. Great group to work with and I love our softball family!
Now, onto HS season! I know our girls will represent us very well on and off the field. We will stay in-touch during the break. I told the girls I would like to meet up to do a team picture in their HS uniforms and we will have some workouts beginning in mid April. Our main push will be in the summer and with this team, we should do quite well.
Should have helmets and some zip jackets for the girls - I will get them to them as soon as I get them
In addition, the 2010 Cal St Fullerton Tournament is going to be held March 17-21 at Cal St Fullerton. Would be fun to have a team outing on Sat 3/20 and then a sleep over. There are many of the top 20 teams playing in this tournament. The schedule is below
http://www.fullertontitans.com/sports/w-softbl/2010-judi-garman-classic.html
We can get group tickets and youth tickets - would be a good event to see for the girls. Tickets are day passes, I believe.
If interested, let Titana Williamson know as she volunteered to organize the event for us. Thank you!
Thank you all for giving up a weekend in Hemet and for the continued support. See you soon.

Thank you all for the support this weekend. Girls played very well and had a good time. We finished third and beat some quality teams, again supporting my thoughts that we can play with anyone.
For this week, we will schedule a practice on Sat. We would like to try to hit and practice longer, if possible. Getting some times together but would think it would be from 11-3? We will not meet on Sunday nor during this week.
Please get your hotel room on the 13th. I know we are scheduled to play after 11 am on that Sat and could have an early game o Sunday. After that weekend, we will stop due to HS and regroup in mid April for workout, only
Thank you again

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and rainy week.
We will have indoor practice this Tuesday from 6:30 - 8:30 at 5-Star Sports Academy. Address is at
Five Star Sports Academy
10530 Lawson River Avenue
Fountain Valley, CA 92708
On Friday 1/29, we will have a field practice at Huntington Beach HS - 6:15 - 8:15. This is due to the fact we lost a week with the weather and have a tournament this coming weekend.
On Sat and Sunday we are in the Irvine Sting Tournament at Bill Barber Park. Game times have not been announced.
We have set aside rooms for 2/12 and 2/13 in case we need them for the 16U Socal Finest Showcase out in Hemet - Games have not been announced. Hopefully, we can just use one night (2/13) - details are pending.
Should have extra pants and socks this Tuesday.
Thanks for the support and looking forward in seeing all on Tuesday.

Week of 1/18 Update
19/Jan/2010 Filed in: Team News
With the rain from yesterday and projected additional rain for the week, this week will be real tough to meet.
Therefore, as of now, there will be no weeknight practice this week and this weekend's tournament is tentative. Rumor has it that if it rains at all on Thursday, they will cancel the tournament for Sat. But I will let you know once I here a definite word.
The website for the tournament is at http://www.triplecrownsports.com/tourny_detail.asp?tournyid=3788 and they have updates posted.
If this week is washed out, we will return to a team practice next week (1/26) and play in the Irvine tournament on the 30th.
Thank you for your patience this week and we will stay in touch.
