Week of 1/4 News

Welcome back! - Wishing everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. The break was nice and needed.

I am looking forward to a successful (and quick) Winter season! I have a draft schedule on on-line that we hope to use. We will have 3 tournaments between now and mid Feb. We will stop playing on 2/15 and allow the girls to concentrate on their HS seasons.

Our first practice will be Thurs 1/7 at HBHS at 600-800pm. We will have some scrimmage games on Sunday 1/10 as well. Please let me know if you can not make the games that day.

I will be placing an order of extra pants next week- let me know if you need anything.

See you Thursday.

Pants, Socks, etc for 2010

If anyone is in need of any apparel (Pants, Socks, TShirts, etc) - I would like to place an order next week.

Please email me quantity and size

Softball Break and 2010

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and coaches for their continued support this fall.  I do think we had a very successful last 4 months as a TEAM as we won two tournaments, a Vegas trip, AL game and win, went 32-12-2, had a run of 18 straight wins and even played up in age most of the fall.  I believe that all the girls and parents would have taken those results if  asked back in Aug!  Of course, we had our moments where things did not go as planned, but as whole, I truly love these girls and their efforts!  We have a special team and it starts with you, the parents.

Now for a small needed break for the holidays.  We will break now till Jan 6th and then regroup as a team.  With HS softball around the corner, we really only have 6 weeks together once we start back up in Jan and then we have to go "dark" for HS softball in Feb.

Some have asked the plans for the spring.  After talking to Johnny, we will stop playing as a travel ball team on Feb 14th (our last tournament) per CIF and then stay dark till April.  Once in April, we will meet for a workout (no games) and then slowly move into more practices in early May.  When early June comes about, we will go hard for ASA States and see where we fall as the summer will be busy.  For your planning, the ASA State Tournament  is June 11th-13th.

For the six weeks in Jan and Feb, we will play in a couple tournaments (Surf City Showcase, Irvine and Socal Finest Showcase) and have weekend practices.  For us to begin to focus on the summer, practices will be more important than friendlies until HS softball is over.  I am anticipating all the roster back and our goal is to work the group towards a national bid in the summer.   (Good times ahead!  - More Bumble-berry pie could be for all in 2010!).  Each player is extremely important for us to meet those goals.  We will stay focused on our team goals and will turn up the intensity to meet those goals.

For 2010, we would like to get new helmets for the girls.  That and a light weight jacket would be nice.  Other than that, we should be set on uniforms, equipment, etc.  We will be ordering extra pants so if you need a pair, please let us know the size and color by next week.  And we need to figure out the sleeve-color combo as we have a had time staying in sync! (for the girls, its how we look that counts!)

In the meantime, please enjoy the softball break this month and the holiday season.  We will have a Christmas party at the Jason's this weekend and I know the girls are looking forward to it.

2009 has been a great year for us - the girls have grown as a team, gained the respect in the softball community and we are a highly respected team off the field with great chemistry among the parents and girls.  Props to all of you for making this different and very rewarding.  I truly appreciate the efforts and work ethic from all.   Attached is a schedule for Jan and Feb and practices will be listed on the web page calendar when we get closer.  First practice back will be on 1/7 at HBHS.

See you at the party for those who can make it this weekend and I know we will see each other sometime during the holiday season.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Week of 11/23 News

After much debate, we have canceled the 12/12 weekend of games at FV  - due to many factors - too close to the holidays, alot of work for the parents that weekend and with the next two weeks full, we will have enough softball.  Plus, the teams that were responding were not that good as everyone seems to be ending on the 6th.  So, we try again next year, but earlier.  I assume everyone is torn up about this :) but is the best decision.

So the following schedule will be followed:

Tuesday Night Game
Tues Nov 24th - 5:00 vs Alabama Thunderbolts at Mile Square Park, #6 - single game

ASA 14u Turkey Tournament @ Chino Hills Community Park
Friday, Nov 27
1:20 pm vs American Pastime

Sun,Nov 29th @ Chino Hills  Community Park - Final 16 Bracket Play

Field Practice - Dec 1st at FV Mile Square - 6pm
Tentative hitting Practice - Dec 3rd at HB - 630pm

Toys for Tots 16u Tournament by American Athletics (will need to bring a toy)
Dec 5th @ Dana Hills HS
9:30 am vs Valley Madness
11:00 am vs  Power Surge
2:00 pm vs San Diego Rowdies

Dec 6 - Bracket Play @ Dana Hills HS or Saddleback JC

Dec 12 or 13th we will plan to do a holiday party for the kids and parents.  Will need someone to organize and run with it!  Either night work and all ideas are open

We will break till the 1/6 and try to host a weekend of games in late Jan for a fundraiser for the summer

See you tomorrow night

Thank you to all the parents for a great trip this past weekend.  By making the off the field activities so smooth the girls took care of business on the field!  We out scored our opponents 54-9 and had a total dominating team performance by all!

Thank you to T for organizing the house and food and making it all seem like a 5-star hotel that those Marina Inn employes would have been jealous!  Thank you to Henry for cooking for the girls Sat and Sun and to all the parents who help on the water, snacks, lunches  and keeping the girls hydrated!  A team effort all the way around!   Good times.  Our team chemistry is unmatched.  If anyone has pictures from the weekend, pass on and I will add to the web site.

Thursday 8/27 we will be holding a tryout for 2-3 spots to the roster for 2009/10. Returning players are welcome to attend the session. We will be doing the tryouts with the players trying out for the 96 team. Time is 6 pm and FV. We will go to 8:45 or you can go when you need too.

We will regroup as a team with the new additions on Sept 3rd for a practice. We will only plan to practice 1 time during the week (Thurs night or Sat) so it will be your responsibility to take some type of lessons on your own. With HS starting, it is impractical to do too much too soon.

We will be adding a new blue sleeveless jersey top to our uniform - and that will be sized for you on Thursday night. Start up cost for new players will be $100 which includes the top and your Sept dues. New players will have a different start up cost since they will be getting more items. For those who need extra pants - the cost will be $38 - Blue or White. We will be using both sets of jerseys for the Fall and the Spring.

Fall schedule is pretty much finished. Our first tournament will be 9/12-9/13. We will have 1 weekend a month off in the fall. If you can not make a weekend event, please let me know. We should have enough players to cover the events. You can find the schedule
HERE to plan for the fall.

8-15 News

We will be holding tryouts on 8/27 and 8/29 - if you are returning and have spoken to me, you do not need to tryout for the fall but are welcome to attend the workout.

If you have decided not to play in the fall for any reason or have questions on your role that might dictate your plans for up-coming season, please let me know prior to tryouts so we can be best prepared. There should be no question where the player fits on the team going into Fall. We will carry 14-15 players for the fall and thus will need to fill a few spots with some new players to better the roster.

If you made your HS team, please let me know. Players will need to make their HS team to play in the summer. That will allow you to continue get in practices/games prior to us re-grouping in June.

We will be adding a blue jersey top to our uniform - details when the come about.

I am working on a fall schedule and it will include 5-6 tournaments, a Vegas tournament and about 35-40 games till Dec. Jan and Feb will be local games and tournaments. We will have a start up fee in Sept and then do monthly fees in Oct-Feb. We will break for HS and regroup after for ASA States, showcases and pending national qualifications. We will work out during HS at a minimum.
